Nicco35 Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Could you help me with them, please. The bedrock plateau at a depth of about two meters and consists of almost unweathered quartz sandstone. Which of the following geophysical methods might be principally used to locate the ditch and why ? Gravimetry [density = density]. Magnetometry [magnetic susceptibility]. Geoelectric (resistance) methods [resistivity]. Radionuclide methods [of uranium, thorium and potassium]. Seismic (refraction) measurements [propagation velocity of longitudinal seismic waves]
Nicco35 Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 He's going to archaeological research the castle, which will be preceded by geophysical measurements. The challenge is also localization said ditch. According to available information, it is almost certain that trench was carved into the rock, its depth could be around 6 meters and width of 6-8 meters. We can assume that filling the trench extinct forms loamy - stony material with a share flushes cultural layers. Please, help me
studiot Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Well homework help is meant to help you do some work. You have listed 5 methods but have not thought about any of them, so i will start you off. Will Radionucleide methods show anything without some digging? If you can dig, will you not find the trench anyway? So what do you think about each method? Is cost important?
Nicco35 Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Geoelectric (resistance) methods [resistivity]. This is the method? Or anything else, yet?
studiot Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 How would you conduct a resistivity survey to show the ditch?
Nicco35 Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Please help These are the following three methods for the other two it is not possible Gravimetry [density = density]. Seismic (refraction) measurements [propagation velocity of longitudinal seismic waves] Geoelectric (resistance) methods [resistivity].
studiot Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Please help I don't see you putting much in. Here is another hint, and the last one without some posted effort from you. How does the resolution of a seismic survey vary with detector spacing?
Nicco35 Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Has nothing to do with the detector spacing So, right answers are Gravimetry and Geolelectric methods
studiot Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Well I've wasted enough time on this one sided conversation. If you have difficulty with English tell the next person who tries to help you before she starts.
Nicco35 Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Please, help me s solution that question...please At monday must write test from that...please help
studiot Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I have no idea what you are studying or at what level. Geophysics is a college or university subject, not a school subject. Here is an extract from Kearney & Brooks An Introduction to Geophysical Exploration. We can discuss this list if you like, but only if you are prepared to answer questions, but as you can see, they have a different list of possibilities for your application. You have not answered my question about cost.
