The search function needs improving.

I noted today a question from the originator of a thread about a comment I had made.

I had presented this, more than once, in the past so I tried a search on 'zero' first with my name attached and second without, to find my previous replies on the subject.

 

Both searches returned a zero result and I consider this pun by the system most unfortunate.

I find the search function frustrating (I will often end up using google advance search on the site) - but it seems that "zero" is a forbidden search term for some reason. It brings up no results even for this thread.

I tend to use Google site search for every website, you can never trust local searches.

I think it's part of the board's software to limit searches, though the excluded vocabulary might have some customization. Three letters and fewer seems to be a standard exclusion, on top of some common longer words. By all means, ping Google's servers with searches.
