Beshears Brad Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) I wanted some insight on mmy question, i joined a forum just for that, sorry if im off subject......... So im a newbie. My question is about the quantum entangelment and how it corelates to the multivers theory. the theory of a parallel universe does make sence to me, what doesnt make sence is that there is an exact opposite of me, in that universe. the quantum entagelment shows that 2 particles can be connected even at a vast distance and each particle does the oposite or an alternative to what the other particl does. So, since my body is made up of millions and millions of these particles, what explains how my particles are assembled together in the paralell universe. I mean, if each of my particles has an entagled particle in the other universe how can the assumption be made that all those particles would be assembeld together to form a duplicate of me, or clone if you will. I mean, what if one of my particles if part of a tree in the other universe while another one of my particles could be part of an animal. Is there some kind of code that says each particle assembled together here will be assemblesd with all the other corrisponing particles that make me here, but in the paralell? swansont Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 The "connectedness" of entangled particles is often misrepresented, but I'm not aware of any established science that has entanglement as part of a multiverse/parallel universe. Where did you hear about this? 1
Strange Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I guess this could be a reference to the "many worlds" interpretation of quantum theory. I haven't looked at this in much detail but I don't think the entanglement is between worlds but the existence of many worlds is a way of explaining how the different possible measurements can happen - without upsetting Einsten! As with all interpretations, I don't really think this describes "reality" (whatever that means); in otherwords, I wouldn't consider the many worlds to actually exist, they are just a way of visualising what happens. (I know others disagree and would argue that these "worlds" are real, but this runs into philosophy and belief so ...) 1
Beshears Brad Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 To swanont. What I do know is this concept is new. But I have read a little bit about it before, my question comes from a video I've recently watched. I don't remember the name at this time but I will post it for you. I do understand the misrepresentation of the entanglement. The multiverse theory is just a theory. But supposedly, because the entanglement is proven, if the multiverse theory could be proven, the entanglement could have something to do with it. I just don't get how the multiverse theory suggests exact opposites of ourselves because it's not about us as a whole, we are made of millions on particles, so it would be about each particle and where they are positioned between the 2 universes. Unless there would be a way to calculate the exact position of particles in both universes. So all my particles here would be mirrored there. But how to calculate??? With out that information, in my mind I see each particle to have an unpredictable position in the alternate universe. Therefore, all my particle here could possibly be assembled together there to make my duplicate and or they could be scattered because everything is made of these subatomic particles. So one of my particles here could be part of a tree there while another of my particles, that corespondent with the others her, could be part of something else there.but still be entangled to each other. IM not that educated in this, I'm actually just starting to grasp the concept of quantum mechanics, physics....ect. Also, I'm new to how forums work, so I don't know if I'm doing this right. I hit a yellow up arrow that puts a 1 next to others comments. I thought it was like Facebook and that means you like the comment??? Lol
swansont Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 But supposedly, because the entanglement is proven, if the multiverse theory could be proven, the entanglement could have something to do with it. Yes, entanglement is a real effect. But the bit about entanglement between universes is most likely a crackpot misinterpretation of legitimate science.
Beshears Brad Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Also, I may have misconceived the multiverse theory. I am under the impression that that theory is made from what we know abo quantum mechanics. Such as the entanglement. But,mo know that the entanglement is really just referencing particles that are connected. Not necessarily between parallel universes but not excluding that fact. But if the theory could be proven, I see entanglement being part of the proof. Yes, entanglement is a real effect. But the bit about entanglement between universes is most likely a crackpot misinterpretation of legitimate science. And the name of the video is.....the universe: collection. It's a series. It's also on Netflix. If you are able to watch it it's episode, 3 called microscopic universe. If you can, please watch this and translate it to me, I may have confused some concept here. Like I said I'm new.
