Greg H. Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 It seems to me most strange that men should fear, Seeing that death, a necessary end, Will come when it will come. --Julius Caesar, William Shakespeare No point being depressed about it - given the history of our planet, it was unlikely the human race was going to spin on forever anyway, unless we make a concerted effort to be somewhere else when the next extinction level event happens. 1

I like that. If I may, I'll borrow from the bard as well. There is a special providence in the fall of a sparrow an asteroid. If it be now, 'tis not to come; if it be not to come, then it will be now; if it be not now, yet it will come. The readiness is all. --Hamlet, William Shakespeare 2

Phi for All Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Aren't you just glad you're here to see it? I'm glad I didn't have a mouthful of coffee when I read that.
StringJunky Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) I'm glad I didn't have a mouthful of coffee when I read that. What would it have been, a new keyboard or phone? We would never share such disparate insights if this was a dry science forum and that's why I can happily live with the forums' rough edges. I see the rough edge as a necessary degree of freedom for stuff like this to happen. Edited February 20, 2015 by StringJunky
