Moontanman
Head transplants now possible? Is the ultimate way to fight the aging of your body or a deranged bid to fight the inevitable? http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg22530103.700-first-human-head-transplant-could-happen-in-two-years.html#.VO9oR3zF-uJ

Phi for All
Who is this for? If you're the type who uses his brain a lot, you'd be putting a worn-out brain on a young body. And if you have a barely-used brain, I don't think you deserve a younger and stronger body. And then there are those who would need proctoscopy to find their brains....

Yes but there are many paraplegics with perfect brains and worn-out bodies
Phi for All
Yes but there are many paraplegics with perfect brains and worn-out bodies That sounds like a more practical option than trying to cheat death by putting your old head on a young body. Unity+
I don't think this operation would work on a politician. If it were done, there would be no brain to do the transplant.

They would still die from old age. I would imagine it would be treated more like a heart transplant
Unity+
What I would find fascinating, if this works, is the ability to have removable heads. If these type of transplants are possible, we could go even further and have the option to change bodies. Use donated DNA to recreate yourself.
fiveworlds
If these type of transplants are possible, we could go even further and have the option to change bodies. I would imagine the surgery would be risky the same as how people don't have discretionary heart transplants Edited February 26, 2015 by fiveworlds

fiveworlds
Every operation has its risks. Some risks are higher than other for instance we know that we can cure ulcerative colitis by surgery however the majority of patients live in pain forever with the disease instead of getting the surgery because the surgery has an extremely high chance of killing the patient. However in severe cases patients do sometimes take the option of surgery
