Gamewizard Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Hi, I am doing a research project and need some help with the write up. Basically my project is about measuring Hepcidin levels in blood samples. I will be obtaining these from the hospital. I will most likely be measuring Hepcidin and other inflammatory markers by commercially available immunoassays however I don't know if I would need to do anything with the blood samples for measurement ? I mean if there is any preparation required of the blood samples beforehand ? and what techniques I would be using because I have never done anything like this before. any ideas would be appreciated
CharonY Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 It depends on the type of assay. Some work with crude samples sufficiently well, in others you need protein purification. Your fist step should be looking at the protocol for the assay you are using and work your way backward from there to establish a standardized workflow.
