JohnGalt Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Hi, In Thailand we have special way to celebrate the Thai new year. People walk in the street shooting everybody with their water gun and putting white powder in the face of other. I was wondering what is the cheapest white powder that could be put on the face/eyes of people without hurting them?
pavelcherepan Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 (edited) Cocaine Kaolinite - white mineral that makes up big percentage of most clays and you often have almost pure kaolinite clays. When dry it's easy to get it into powder form and has no adverse health effects that I've heard of. And it's free too if you manage to find a proper sediment EDIT: Ouch. Apparently people also eat kaolinite, never heard of that before but here's the quote: GeophagyKaolin is eaten for health or to suppress hunger,[9] a practice known as geophagy. Consumption is greater among women, especially during pregnancy.[51] This practice has also been observed within a small population of African-American women in the Southern United States, especially Georgia.[52][53] There, the kaolin is called white dirt, chalk or white clay.[ Edited April 8, 2015 by pavelcherepan
John Cuthber Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 What's wrong with flour? The essential problem is that lungs are not built to deal with much solid dust, so any powder being thrown round is potentially harmful.

Flour costs money and kaolinite can be dug for free on a river bank The essential problem is that lungs are not built to deal with much solid dust, so any powder being thrown round is potentially harmful. Yeah, silicosis would be a problem if you do it too often, but once a year shouldn't be too bad.

Well, that's true iff th local river banks have kaolin in them. And it won't be silicosis unless you start throwing silica about.
JohnGalt Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 kaolinite is only available in 1 village and will be unavailable in 2-3 years.
