DrP Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 you should be alright for your first 100 wears of the product... anymore than that and it dissolves your brain. How many times have you applied it? 2
StringJunky Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Anything that leaves a residue on your scalp and solely intended for cosmetic purposes is not going to be entirely risk-free. Even if there is no cfhemical effects from its components, they may hinder the scalps' natural processes by physically blocking the pores. Occassional use won't cause any real lasting problems as long as you wash it out at the end of the day. Chronic daily use causes hair and skin dehydration apparently. 1
Phi for All Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Absolutely not. I can't stand it when you do. It might be different if you had any hair, but....
swansont Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Healthy implies some benefit, not just absence of risk. I've never heard of hair gel being described as healthy. 1
fiveworlds Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) Well I know that people with sensitive skin especially people who are prone to dermatitis can have particularly bad reactions to hair gel. Causing excessive drying of the scalp and painful lumps. Not only that but the body normally loses skin every day the gel can hold that skin in your hair can make it harder to remove while washing your hair. This skin can become a source of infection and cause inflammation of the scalp as a result. I also wouldn't cut my hair if it wasn't in some way damp first because that can cause irritation of the skin the same way that shaving without water would. Edited April 14, 2015 by fiveworlds
MigL Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Used gel in my hair for about 15-20 yrs whenever I'd go 'clubbing'. Only problem I experienced was a build up after many uses as shampoo is very mild. Solved the problem by shampooing with dishwashing liquid occasionally to remove the build up. It may have some gray in it now but I still have all my hair. Hasn't thinned or receded.

ydoaPs Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Is it healthy? Thanks! Didn't the fashion police ban hair gel like 15 years ago? 1
