onemind Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Hi, you know how you can't do physics without math, is chem the same? If so, what main areas are essential to learn? Thanks for any info
budullewraagh Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 for low level chem you dont need much mathematical knowledge. advanced chem requires calculus
JHAQ Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Many areas . Thermodynamics , reaction kinetics , electrochemistry , quantum mechanics ------
jdurg Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Algebra is a DEFINITE subject that you need to master in order to be successful in chemistry, and some fairly simple calculus isn't required, but will be immensely helpful in certain areas.

onemind Posted March 26, 2005 Author Posted March 26, 2005 Cool, thanks guys I'm taking linear algebra at the moment and a course on matlab. Hopefuly that should be enough to get me through next semesters chemistry course. Thanks again
