parkbanks Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Hi there, this is my first time posting so forgive any indiscretions on my part. I was wondering what the name of the attached geometric curve is? It was produced by a population of bots in a exploration simulation I am running using neural nets. To me it looks like a dimpled limaçon, but with two inner loops instead of one. If the curve has a name, or a defining formula, I would greatly appreciate it.
Acme Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) I'd say looped limacon; not dimpled. It almost looks like the loop is a smaller and inverted looped limacon itself. A fractal perhaps? Edited April 24, 2015 by Acme
parkbanks Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 Ah, I meant looped then. And that's a good idea. I'll rerun the population with a larger environment and population to see if I can get several inversions.

michel123456 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) if the simulation is symmetric and finite, it is the superposition of 2 curves, resembling a spiral. Edited April 24, 2015 by michel123456
