I am appalled that a post in which someone gave an idea of atoms being spaceships in which super intelligent people live, has been stopped. That person's voice has been silenced!!!!

No one has the right to silence another human being. It is suppression!!!!

Even considering the possibility that this individual may be in error, no one has the right to silence him or her.

I am disgusted.

I quote ' this is a science site not a science fiction site' moderators note.

The author of the moderators note is a disgrace.

Silencing someone because of the single motive that you disagree with them is very wrong. How can anyone disprove the author of this fascinating idea?

That atoms are spaceships in which super intelligent people live.

I myself am critical of this idea and believe imagination has took too essential a role.

Nevertheless the author may not be so far from the truth as lesser thinkers such as the moderator who silenced him might believe or able to accept

How can the world find peace when stupidity suppresses an individual????

Does it really? An acceptable idea needs to have some attachment to reality as we know it. AS WE KNOW IT indeed. But how about considering reality as we don't know. Is this anymore insubstantial or irrelevant?

In science ideas must be testable and falsifiable.

Also he wasn't silenced he is free to start up his own forum, blog etc... Or to walk and start shouting his ideas. This forum is not public property you have no right to post here it is a privilege from the owners. If you don't like how it is run you can leave.

One must also note there was a link deletion in the post — the OP was merely a teaser, advertising their site. Which is a rules violation.

actual quote from that site —> "read the new bible about gods eternal kingdom in the microcosm"

So, no. This is a science site, and our primary purpose is discussing science, and we have rules. That's something you agree to when you join. We don't have to tolerate folks pimping their unscientific crap.

Personally, I think it's stupid to pretend every idea/issue is equally important. I offer modern media journalism as supportive evidence.

And you, me, the author of that thread, anyone else, can go and start their own webpage and write as much as they want about whatever they want.

On the other hand, none of us have any right to force this server to publish anything. There is no freedom of speech on this server. The owner of the server can do anything they want. They can shut it down today. They can ban users for using the letter e. They can turn your posts to baby speak. The owner can do with it as he wants to.

Freedom of speech only guarantees your right to publish what you want. It has nothing to do with forcing someone else to publish it for you. And it certainly does not force someone else to actually read it.

This server works in the same way a newspaper publisher works. Do you really expect every letter to the editor to be required to be published? Or a book publisher be required to publish every manuscript they receive? I hope not. These examples have rules about what they publish, just like this site.

Next time you claim repression, please take a few moments to actually check out what you're claiming before trying to ignite something.

I kind of skimmed over this part the first time, but now it's like a sore tooth and it's hard to leave it alone. How does one consider what one doesn't know? Are we assuming there's a whole bunch we don't know? Every time I look outside to see if it's clouding up to rain water down on me, do I need to consider that it might rain beets, or paper towels, or something I don't know, like... well, like... I don't know.

Instead of having to run through all the possibilities of what we don't know, I prefer being extremely careful about the methodology used to gather data on what we do know. It's a jungle out there, and not every path leads somewhere. Science makes a path anyone can follow through the jungle, as long as they're willing to take responsibility for their own ignorance and do something to alleviate it.

This is science forum, not garbage..

Ask intelligent questions,

come up with smart theory,

and you will be treated as you deserved.

So far every your post is piece of garbage, and should land in trash.

I am surprised moderators are so gentle..

Even if it were suppression, the readers have the control in the long run. If the moderators allowed such content, fewer people would read read/join their site.

He was clearly far from the truth.. it was a ridiculous idea that a child would think up as was stated so by someone in the thread. If you come to this site saying that you think fairies exist or that you might be able to shoot laser beams with your eyes if you concentrate hard enough.... then you can probably expect ridicule or derision from some of us... it is a SCIENCE site - not a site for gibberish (although we sometimes wonder).

HA ha ha! David Lineker said he should retire to his secret base and stroke his cat. lol.

Sorry MigL - I didn't see your question before (1 year ago!) - he was talking about Sepp Blatter - David Lineker suggested he should retire to his secret base and stroke his cat - I thought it was very funny.

I see that by resurrecting this thread, the OP has gained even more negative votes. Not enough though. If every negative vote ever given on the forum were assigned to that one post, it would not properly reflect how truly asinine it is.

OK - I joined the bandwagon - lol.

PS - I only resurrected it because their was a question directed to me which I had missed - did not want to appear rude.

Whenever I see a post of yours I always imagine Rikku from Final Fantasy X-2 saying "Doctor P is in the house".

Thanks for the concern DrP, but it was a rhetorical question.

Both of the named individuals are evil villains out to rule the world.
