HadronsOnSteroids Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Pretty - much everyone knows that most stars run on nuclear fusion, but what if there stars that used nuclear fission? ..............................
Moontanman Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 There is an hypothesis that planets like the earth are fission powered.. http://www.rense.com/general25/vore.htm
pavelcherepan Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Fusion requires high temperatures and pressures and can only go in the center of stars. And even then the reaction is rather slow. On the other hand if you have a hypothetical star with high percentage of unstable fissionable isotopes, fission will go throughout the volume of the star and it will either quickly run out of fissionable material or if the percentage of it is high will get blown to pieces.
mathematic Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Pretty - much everyone knows that most stars run on nuclear fusion, but what if there stars that used nuclear fission? .............................. Highly unlikely. There is very little fissionable material around and it has to be the right concentration so that it acts like a nuclear reactor but not a bomb. There is some evidence that early in the life of the earth there were natural fission reactors.

Phi for All Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 thank for the feedback! It's honestly nice to know I'm being appreciated, even if I was wrong Great attitude! Too many people think criticism means they aren't being appreciated.
