emelycharter Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I've read that accountant in business is fundamental. what do you think about this? Can you make good money using chemistry in business?
iNow Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 For sure the analytical skills and critical thinking so common among chemists will serve one well in business, but I'm not sure I really understand your question. What do you mean, "accountant in business is fundamental?" or "using chemistry in business?" Are you asking if a degree in chemistry will help one be successful, or if one must have a degree in accounting to do so, or if one can be a well-paid chemist, or something else?
mississippichem Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Ways to make money as a chemist: 1) Be a people person and ascend to a managerial position. 2) go to med school 3) Use the Breaking Bad/Walter White method Source: I'm a professional chemist in the industrial polymer/materials/coatings world. I didn't have two pennies to bump together until I achieved a supervisor like position.
CharonY Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 A sub-point could to 1) could be getting into consulting and move up from there. But making money as chemist in industry is still better than in academia (at equivalent levels of experience).
