Gorototh Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Hello SF, this would be my first post on the forums here so I wanted to post my views on human nature, spirituality and hopefully it can raise the eyebrow to think how this influences all of mankind. Hopefully you enjoy it ! Good afternoon, good evening and goodnight, I'm making this post on a very important and not very acknowledged topic, that in my opinion is most likely the one that influences everybody's life to the core of their understanding and perception of themselves, society, the world, and the universe. This topic is that of spirituality, I am not talking about magical force fields around people's bodies or an invisible man in the sky that teaches you right from wrong, nor am I talking about the harvesting of energy from rare minerals and crystals from the Earth. I am talking about you. YOU, and your relationship with your surroundings, your relationships, your thoughts, ideas, first loves, beliefs, accomplishments. You, you are defined by what you have dictated to be reasonable, comfortable, acceptable, and that stems from who you were when you were given the tools to create your identity, the person that built the present you, the one that either accepted beliefs as fact, painted a portrait that stimulated a certain region of your mammal brain, the person that solved an overwhelmingly difficult math problem. That person is responsible for who you are today, and that person will still be held accountable for who you are now. It doesn't matter if who it is you are now is a junkie, a loser, a nerd, a plumber, scientist, engineer, explorer, internet magician, programmer, Uber, L33t. You are who you've built yourself to become the past couple of years, but that does not limit the potential that you have to construct and build the person that is coming after the one you are right now. Think back to the one that built you, are you proud of him or her? Are you proud of what that person did for you, do you want to remain dwelling in who you were or do you want to acquire the tools necessary to build the person you want to become...That, is the spirituality I am talking about. The type that tells people to go fuck themselves, or to have a nice day. That is the true spirituality that is present in every intellectual standing ape out there that thinks there's something not quite right with what we see today, the individual insanity that invents, innovates and discovers. That is you. I have seen many people deny the fact that they are living breathing human beings that are part of a world filled with other living breathing human beings that are as capable or not to do great things or to do horrible things, they fail to realize how unimportant their perspective of the present is because they are afraid. Afraid of how difficult and how hard it is to sit down shut up and think. Afraid that maybe, just maybe, they are wrong. That they have built the wrong person. The way you should approach this existential awareness is by taking a step back, looking at yourself and realizing you are a living...breathing...human being, capable of understanding and discovering the very mysteries of the universe, the collective stardust unimaginably larger than you think. That, is far more spiritual and relieving than any holy book can teach you. The ability to sit down...shut up...and think. This I think, is our biggest problem in society and our ability to rely on each other as a species. Because that is what we have evolved to do. To research new scientific boundaries because we do NOT want to die and we want to discover how this existence works. We are not screeching apes flinging shit at each other, nor are we ignorant peasants fighting for land and bowing down to the superior ape that has a relationship with the inexplicable. We are human beings, capable of reason and logic. Throw away the asshole that built you and create somebody that understands this infinite cosmos and is kind and caring to his or her's peers. Study, question, reason, love, care, empathize, discover. That...is the kind of spirituality that I care for, the kind that gives meaning to these 100 years we have on this Earth, this beautiful Earth. That is the kind worth believing in. That is my take on Science, Religion, Politics and Philosophy, which are in my opinion one for all and all for one. Please share your thoughts and opinions. Remember, be Unafraid of the Dark.

Gorototh Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 (edited) I'd be delighted if he would give some evidence of what he is asserting instead of soap boxing... I'm happy to see that, but this wasn't aimed toward scientific minds, this was aimed toward religious thinkers and magical thinkers that believe they have the right answer when it comes to what spirituality means. Now, as for evidence of what I'm asserting... We live in a day and an age where ignorance is a choice...And people STILL choose ignorance. It would take a person merely a day to comprehend the things I assert in this piece of slam poetry ( Poor quality I might add being my second piece ). I appreciate your enthusiasm for question, it is very useful in this day and age, but just because you're too lazy to research the natural world, doesn't make your beliefs true, that is what I'm trying to convey in this thread. Thank you I would be delighted if you would comment on either of these threads: http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/89548-if-you-cant-be-content-without-money;-you-cant-be-content-with-money/ http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/83468-why-forgive/ I responded to both threads, interesting to converse about and really important questions to address!
