I am not sure what the point of this trial was. He has been a part of making sure that some of the terrible events that occurred during WWII are not denied. He is a rather odd person in that respect, others tried to play it down or even deny their part.

 

The claim is that he played a rather minor role as 'a small cog in the machine'. We have to question what choice he really had in being part of that machine, while realising that if enough people said no then the machine would have failed.

 

The conviction and prison sentence I guess now close that part of history. He maybe the last Nazi to be prosecuted.
