how do i prove by contradiction that the sum of two irrational numbers is irrational?

 

lol i just can't quite see the trick yet :P

lol ah ha thats because its false.... :P ie. srt2 + (-srt2) = 0

 

but that then begs the question....is zero rational or irrational?

well no i guess it is not rational, but then is it irrational?
Zero is a rational number, since it can be written as a quotient of two integers. Namely, we can write [math]0=\frac{0}{a}[/math], where [math]a[/math] is any non-zero integer.
