maya70 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Hello! We analyse urine and we cout cfu number. Is that what we count number of bacteries (particular bacteries) or clums of bacteries (colonies)? So, if these are colonies,, then itis significant, when we have more then 100 000 COLONIES i 1 ml, and that is MORE then just 100 000 bacteries, isn't it? MANY THANKS FOR HELP!!!
LWilkins Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 CFU means Colony Forming Units. This assumes that every colony on your petri dish was originally just one cell, prior to incubation. If you have 10,000 colonies formed after incubation on your dish, you can assume that there are 10,000 cells per mL of your urine sample.
Justin.Frank Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Yes, you can assume that there are 10,000 cells per mL of your urine sample.
