davidelkins Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 What is a Thought Atom? Such a notion has miniaturization, densification and visualization capacity effectuality inherent. Author: David Elkins -2
John Cuthber Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) A thought atom is an idea that you dreamed up and that, quite possibly, nobody else thinks exists. Edited October 30, 2015 by John Cuthber 3
swansont Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 At the very least you could Google it first, to see if it's anything more than a term coined by an artist, without any scientifically rigorous meaning.
andrewcellini Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) What is a Thought Atom? Such a notion has miniaturization, densification and visualization capacity effectuality inherent. that's word salad. capacity effectuality inherent? what is capacity effectuality supposed to mean? what do you mean when you say thought atom? you can't talk about what's "inherent" in it unless you can clearly define what it is. you've written one sentence that doesn't say much of anything. you can't really expect any discussion from what you've written so far. Bill Angel Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 What is a Thought Atom? Such a notion has miniaturization, densification and visualization capacity effectuality inherent. Author: David Elkins I agree that "thought atom" has a vague meaning. Perhaps it has a conceptual connection to Leibniz's idea of a Monad. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gottfried_Wilhelm_Leibniz#The_monads The monads are "substantial forms of being" with the following properties: they are eternal, indecomposable, individual, subject to their own laws, un-interacting, and each reflecting the entire universe in a pre-established harmony
Ophiolite Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 What is a Thought Atom? Such a notion has miniaturization, densification and visualization capacity effectuality inherent. Author: David Elkins Miniaturization of what? Densification of what? And did you mean "visualization capacity effectively inherent"? In what way is it connected to Leibnitz's monads? I, according to Leibnitz, am a monad. Am I also a thought atom?
davidelkins Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 Thought atoms have effectuality, meaning they can have a positive expansion of knowledge just by operating with them. As far as rigorous meaning, thought atoms are not supposed to be restrictively defined. They are supposed to be available to such a broad field that they themselves can never be straightjacketed. On the other hand, what is a 42 foot tall thought? There is an exploration here of additional information without limiting usage or content. DE
