silverghoul1 Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 So I found these 2 flat rectangular disks that are about the size of my thumb. They both say, "memory stick by sony", on them, and one of them also say "magicgate". They look like they can fit inside a computer, but I don't know where

Simply enter label of whatever electronics you find in google search field, and you will see shops selling this stuff, with details, and everything mentioned, or even wikipedia page. These connectable to USB are just minority of the market. If you have few brands digital cameras, you need special flash cards reader like this: Yes, I know, it's ridiculous quantity of "standards".... It's to screw customers by electronics companies.. Customers are forced to buy one company products for years after initial digital camera/video recorder/printer/scanner/game/phone/electronics purchase. EU from time to time, force companies to make standards, but they're too quick, and too greedy. And now they made different batteries/accumulators. You have to have spare accumulators, rechargers, AC->accumulator replacements, for all the time running camera etc. etc. After initial purchase there is list of support stuff needed to buy for 50%+ of initial price. And matching exclusively model you bought and nothing else.. The next year same company will make different model, with different standard of everything.. And it'll repeat again. Yes I have tried doing research on this already. I usually come here as a last resort. What I really wanted to know, is how to use them, since they don't fit into my computer. Than I just found a video of a guy, puttin them into a old digital camra

It was not compatible with other makes or types of plug in memory. Memory Stick is a removable flash memory card format, launched by Sony in October 1998,[1] and is also used in general to describe the whole family of Memory Sticks. I've got one of those, and also a Sony camera that uses Memory Stick. Pain in the neck. When most devices just use SD or TF (Micro-SD), for Sony to have their own weirdo standard is just annoying. 1

Some old cellphones use Memory stick that are 3x larger (than Micro-SD cards) and the Playstation Portable until the production of Micro-SD cards. There are some longer and wider, PS2 uses memory sticks that are the size of the thumb (length) and as 2.5 inches wide. Edited November 5, 2015 by houshasei

The ps2 predated the memory stick range they changed the name from memory card. The ps2 used flash memory.
