victor43 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Hello. My question is simply what type of specialist (cellular biologist or pathologist or other) could help with the examination of human cell(s) possbly stem cells and examine their detail structures (mitochondrion, cell membrane, cytoplasm, microtubles, golgi, nucleas, endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, microfiliaments and etc) for any iregularities or unusual properties ? I need to find an expert in the field of the study of human cells which can help examining the structures of a human cells. Unfortunately at the moment I cannot say for sure which type of human cell which I need studied and examined. This question is not about cancer cells or other organism but human cells. Thanks
CharonY Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 There are a number of disciplines involved in this topic. Even worse, depending on cell types there are further sub-specializations. Off the top of my head you have (molecular) cell biology, cell physiology, parts of: developmental biology, neurophysiology/cellular neurobiology, analytical cytology, histology, to name a few examples.
Xalatan Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 When you refer to a specialist, you mean a clinical specialist? Pathologists are the clinical specialists who look at cells for pathological diagnoses. Outside of clinical practice, you can speak to a cell biologist, molecular biologist etc. but it would be for research purposes rather than trying to achieve a diagnosis per se.
