ydoaPs
Does anyone think this is possible in our current technology? Why? Yes, it is possible to send things to Mars and not bring them back. We've done it many times. In fact, Mars is entirely inhabited by robots from Earth.
Airbrush
The "one way trip to Mars" is the most economical way to put people on Mars, and therefore very likely. Volunteers for the "one-way" trip are already being selected and vetted. Edited November 8, 2015 by Airbrush

GeeKay
One possible one-way voyage to Mars (or anywhere else for that matter) involving human visitants could be achieved by those suffering from terminal illnesses of one kind or another. Obviously, it would be essential for the astronaut not to be incapacitated by the illness - at least remaining reasonably fit and well until the end of the mission. Computer technology would enable a dignified, and possibly private, act of self-administered euthanasia. Many observers, I'm sure, would still regard such an enterprise as ghoulish. Still, if I were granted a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to go to Mars under these terms, would I accept it? Oh, yes, for sure

Airbrush
Or sending senior citizens age 60 and up. They have a lot of experience and can spend their last 10 -20 years on Mars. DE If the seniors are willing to go, and are able, then why not? There is no shortage of younger people who are willing to spend the rest of their lives on Mars. They just need vetting to get the right candidates. We need to resolve the issue of low gravity and long-term health. The 1st thing they need to build on Mars is a centrifuge for the people to sleep in at one g. This could be built below ground to shelter from cosmic rays.
