nursingstudent2017 Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Is Enterococcus the ONLY thing that grows on the selective EC agar plate? I'm doing my unknown in class and I had a little bit of growth on my EC plate but I know for sure it isn't Enterococcus because I turned that in for my first chance. I have one more chance. I'm so scared. Please help!

It is best if you know which selective agar you are using there are loads of them. Also you know that more than just Enterococcus can grow because your lecturer told you. The best I can say from what you have told me is that your selective agar is probably selectively targeting Gram-Negative bacteria as Enterococcus is Gram-Negative. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agar_plate
