Pangloss
The New York Times ran a funny sidebar story today about President Bush's Ipod playlist. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/04/11/politics/11letterbox.html? Apparently one of his aids downloads the tunes from Apple and installs them for him, and he listens while running. Or signing important bills. Something like that. Anyway, here were some of the artists and tunes from the list. Mostly C/W, but some fun '80s stuff. Oddly, no sign of Huey Lewis's "Hip to Be Square". John Fogerty, "Centerfield" Van Morrison, "New Biography," "Brown Eyed Girl" John Hiatt, "Circle Back" Alan Jackson George Jones Alejandro Escovedo, "Castanets" Joni Mitchell, "(You're So Square) Baby, I Don't Care" The Gourds, "El Paso" Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, "Swinging From the Chains of Love" Stevie Ray Vaughan, "The House is Rockin' " James McMurtry, "Valley Road" The Thrills, "Say It Ain't So" The Knack, "My Sharona" Can you think of some funnier tunes for his Playlist? atinymonkey
My picks would be: - Tears for Fears "Everybody wants to rule the world" Billy Joel "We Didn't Start the Fire" Monty Python "I love Chinese" Sex Pistols "My Way" Duran Duran "A View to a Kill" Rolling Stones "Sympathy for the Devil" Althoug, I quite like the idea of Bush listening to "A View to a Kill" to get into that James Bond frame of mind before forming a whole new "road to peace" process for the middle east. Phi for All
I hear he likes Baby Got Back, but he sings his own lyrics: I like big bucks so I have to lie My other brothers showed me why That when a guy walks in with an itty bitty case full of bearer bonds in your face You get sprung, wanna pull out your tongue 'Cause you notice that bucks was stuffed Deep in the jeans he's wearing I'm hooked and I can't stop staring Oh Allah, I wanna get wit'chuz And take your riches CIA tried to warn me But with that oil they got makes me feel so horny Ooh, Rumsfeld's Cruisin' You say you wanna be wit my frenz? Well, use me, Cheney Dicky ain't that average meanie I've seen him dancin' Hallibur-romancin' We'll sweat, yet, put the screws to the war bud-get I've got the magazines Sayin' we need more machines Take the average soldier and ask him that "We takin' too much flak!" So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!) Has your President got the bucks? (Hell yeah!) Tell 'em to shake it! (Sheik it!) Shake it! (Sheik it!) Sheik those oily bucks! Dubya got bucks!
