darktheorist Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 He's been prophecied about for eons. Since the birth of time, the worlds been casting an eager lookout in the direction of the coming of the antichrist. The maitreyta, as buddhist know him. Hazarat Al Mahdi to muslims. The Kalki to Hindus. Call him what you may... He's here.
andrewcellini Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) where is he? who is he? He's been prophecied about for eons. How long the belief has been held is really irrelevant. What evidence is there for the antichrist? Also, it isn't really correct to equate the antichrist to the maitreya as buddhists regard it as a future buddha which will bring enlightenment to the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maitreya And, it doesn't seem correct to equate the antichrist with mahdi either! Mahdi seems to be closer to the christian concept of Jesus in the end times. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahdi Of the mythological concepts/beings presented, Kalki seems closest to the antichrist in that it is a sort of destructive force that will bring about the "end times." But it hasn't been shown by the OP how these two are the same and not just serving similar purposes in their respective mythologies, and of course there is no evidence presented to substantiate the claim that this being exists. swansont Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 ! Moderator Note darktheorist You have one chance to clarify and amplify your post, explain what this has to do with philosophy and what it is you'd like to discuss. Discussion forum ≠ Blog 1
John Cuthber Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 "Since the birth of time, the worlds been casting an eager lookout in the direction of the coming of the antichrist." Why would anyone have looked for an Antichrist before there was a Christ. This thread is silly. "He's here. " Where? Here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Corbyn or here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump or perhaps here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Francis or maybe here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheldon_Cooper
Phi for All Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 "He's here. " Where? Here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Corbyn or here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump or perhaps here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Francis or maybe here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheldon_Cooper Well, the Mahdi is described as being about 40 years old, so it must be Sheldon. I could go with Trump as the Anti-Christ, though. We should probably wait for DarkTheorist to explain what he means. Btw, don't you hate it when people start a discussion using words designed to be cryptic rather than informative? OPs should be written so the first response isn't "What are you talking about?"
kisai Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 If I don't get a lightsabre and/or magic powers, I really don't care if it's the apocalypse or not.
Phi for All Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 If I don't get a lightsabre and/or magic powers, I really don't care if it's the apocalypse or not. Oddly, that's exactly what I promise MY worshippers. If they're good. 1

Moontanman Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I think the anti Christ is Sarah Palin, think about it for a moment...
John Cuthber Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I think the anti Christ is Sarah Palin, think about it for a moment... Doesn't take much thinking about. 1
Moontanman Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Doesn't take much thinking about. She pretty much is the antithesis of Jesus...

swansont Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Seeing as darktheorist visited earlier today and chose not to post, I think we're done here 2
