Every individual needs to set themselves straight, find a nice life partner to have intercourse with and be proficient to themselves, their close ones and to all humanity.

Why?

I think the meaning of life is to feel good, through accomplishment and social bondings. Not by shallow indulgences.

Why do you assume

(1) that life has a meaning and

(2) that your view on the matter has any significance?

One of the many benefits of masturbation is that it does feel good. I don't think you can technically call it an indulgence unless you're doing it 4-5 times a day. Seems like you're turning this into a moral debate rather than discussing the psychological implications.

My view may have no significance to you or others, but it does to me and maybe to some others as well, that care about an opinion of another. With this saying of yours you can assume that no view, no opinion of an individual is worth anything. Maybe to you it isn't oh Mr. Arrogant, oh Mr. High and Mighty. Probably if someone you admire like Einstein or whatever said anything you would sit down and actually study it.

Why do I assume that life has a meaning ? Cause I assume. It is my right ok ? I am allowed to ?

No I probably wouldn't.

And yes, you can assume what you want. But to post it here as if it is important tags you as arrogant

Have you actually studied the problem in question. Can you reference and proper scientific studies that show that masturbation is bad for you?

There are questions of science and if Einstein said something in a scientific sense one would definitely have to consider it seriously, but in psychological or ethical discussions why would Einstein be a point of reference?

Of course you're entitled to an opinion. Someone may even still believe it makes you crippled and blind. Yet you're not going to get a thumbs up on a science forum when you have no evidence based research to back your claims. That's all everyone is getting at, not silencing your opinion.

As to the scientific side of masturbation the studies seem to be inconclusive, even regarding the physical impacts alone. Isn't it some kind of rumor that masturbation damages eye sight ? I would add hair loss to this as well. I remember when I did masturbate that my head would itch afterwards, and I would want to take a shower. Science has a difficulty with this topic probably because of the control group, people that don't masturbate. Science has a problem with this topic, and so it is necessary for another kind of approach, from a different angle, that is maybe a bit less scientific.

I've heard just the opposite - people who masturbate a lot have hair growing on palms of their hands :)

So your logic is like that - "We use accurate methods and get shitty results, then we should use shitty methods to get accurate results"? Are you being deliberately obtuse?

I remember when I did masturbate that my head would itch afterwards, and I would want to take a shower.

Or your head was itching because you haven't taken shower for a while, or you had head lice or you had some skin condition. There's a lot of options. Believe what you want, but that doesn't make it any less idiotic.

Before the masturbation I was fine, no head itching, I was showered and clean. Then after my head would itch and I would want to take a shower.

It could potentially have been a psychosomatic response. If in your head you're convinced that you've done something very wrong it could potentially manifest in physiological effects, such as itching. Although I'm not exactly sure if psychosomatics is a very scientific subject.

I know, for example, that my wife, when she gets nervous or scared, always gets foot cramps and itchiness and redness of forearm skin.

Itching can also be a result of paranoid behaviour and since he seems to associate masturbation with negative connotations, that could be it.

Either way, why focus on the least likely reasons when there are countless simple/logical/likely explanations?

It changes the brain from psychological pioint of view. Seeing big boobs and ideal bodies makes one seek for such things in real life. Thanks god no woman or man is perfect enough to meet the standards created by porn.

That's the thing I would be mostly concerned about.

Porn stars are all impants and surgeries. Another sickness of modern society. I live in Israel not LA, but still I see many women with breast implants (to my disdane even my mom, probably convinced by my shallow and horny father. I personally think her original chest was beautiful), and am appalled by it. It is getting quite a trend here too. I also think men should be proud of their body hair, and not surgically remove it like sissies.

Except, you know, the people in that porn... and anyone who happens to look similar.

Again, for someone who has NEVER watched porn, you sure do pretend to know an awful lot about the content within. Also, this is trivially false.

Aha. Now I think we're finally getting somewhere and can begin to understand why you have such a warped view. Someone call Freud...

You haven't read rule 34 of the internet. If you can imagine a human phenotype, I'm willing to bet there's a porn star matching it.

Do you know what the word psychosomatic means?

Since the best available estimate is that practically everyone does it, where do these "scientific" studies find their control group?

well, as you point out, there isn't one.

And yet you pretend that there are studies.

How?

You already agreed that it's impossible.

Many celebrities also have ideal bodies and make girls want to be like them and men to have someone with an ideal body too. Don't try to blame all on porn.

Moderator Note

Eldad Eshel, this isn't a thread for you to discuss your bizarre moral quandaries with porn, nor is it the place to talk about your mother's breasts or your various other pointless anecdotes. If you want to partake in this discussion, please support your claims with scientific justification and evidence. If you cannot do this and continue to drag this thread off topic, I will be placing you in the mod queue.
