bascule Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Not that I was even talking about GR, but... String theory provides substantially more compatibility with general relativity than quantum because its primitives (strings) have a spatial extent whose effects GR can be used to model, as opposed to the zero dimensional point particles of the standard model.
BlackHole Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Even if superstring theory is correct, it can't be verified experimently. Humans will reach the energy scales needed only in 10,000 years from now. If we survive then type III & IV civilizations should reach Planck's scale. I want a theory which could be plausible in my lifetime. In fact, Johnny gave me an idea. I think gravity could be related to mangetism, spin, heat, density and pressure, especially inside stellar cores. It's not completely known what triggers star formation but it seems to me that strong magnetic fields are involved. PS: What is the difference between spin 1 and spin 2?
