surreptitious57 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Either space is relative to time. Or time is relative to space. Now the Minkowski block universe model makes no distinction between past and present and future. This is why quantum mechanics makes no sense. But if space is made relative to time then it is at least being made relative to something that is actually known to be physical
Strange Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Either space is relative to time. Or time is relative to space. Not really. They are both relative. Your wording suggests that one of them must be absolute; neither are. What is invariant is the space-time separation between events (and the speed of light). Now the Minkowski block universe model makes no distinction between past and present and future. This is why quantum mechanics makes no sense. I assume by "makes no sense" you mean counter-intuitive (it makes sense as a scientific theory). But that is generally due to things like non-locality and entanglement. Are these related to Minkowski space-time? But if space is made relative to time then it is at least being made relative to something that is actually known to be physical The whole point of relativity is that space and time are equally physical: space-time.
pavelcherepan Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 What do you mean by space being relative to time?
