5070chemist Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I have difficulties in understanding the concepts of acid and pure acids. I understand that acid is defined as the substance that dissociates/ionizes to produce H+ ions when dissolved in water. So with that being said, I suppose pure acid would be 100% substance without the water. During the acid lecture, we were told that the H+ ions are responsible to exhibit the properties of acid, therefore does that mean pure acid won't have the properties of an acid? will it be inert? does it mean pure acid are not corrosives?
