silverghoul1
Day to day, I watch TV and surf the internet, and I see Americans, embarrassing themselves. Commenting that if the president their voting for, doesn't win, they'll leave the country. They're acting like children, acting butt-hurt. They're making protests, sure it's their right, but it doesn't feel right, the way their doing so. When someone runs for president, they are suppose to run for the benefit for the country, not to run for the job itself, because of greed. The Runners go out of their way, to find dirt on each other, they forgot the fundamentals. This country is splitting. Why, for two centuries, no matter how many new views people develop, we are stuck in tradition. "Tradition?" We are stuck between two parties, where only one person, ONE PERSON, gets elected and you can't do anything about it, until they do something stupid, and even then, when was the last time we kick'ed someone out of the White House for their actions? Perhaps there may be a better solution to run a successful country, with over 300 million people? Don't ask me the question, I'm just lost. We're suppose to be the country, that inspires foreigners to do chase their dreams, to prove anything is possible. Speaking of which, what happened to the American dream? Is that still a thing? Sorry if I sound foolish, and you're not wrong to call me so.
EdEarl
Has America, and it's citizens, lost sight in who we are? Speaking of which, what happened to the American dream? Is that still a thing? You asked two questions. The answers depend on who you think we are and what exactly you think the American dream is. However, you didn't focus on the questions in your post; they seem like rhetorical questions used to emphasize a point. Many people feel overwhelmed or dissatisfied with various things about modern culture. If you want to discuss a particular issue, please state a specific question about an issue such as gun control, immigration or school reform. Ok, what's a better way to appeal to everyone, or atleast most.
Endy0816
Elections have been pretty cantankerous in the past, we are still here as a country though. Shrug. People talk alot of smack. Candidates talk alot more smack. A number of different issues feeding into this one. Latent racism/sexism, demographic change, end of an 8 year term, gerrymandering, 'grass roots' activism and media spin. Parties are a result of our voting system. I don't know if that is going to change anytime soon. Speaking of which, what happened to the American dream? Is that still a thing? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_a_Salesman
EdEarl
Ok, what's a better way to appeal to everyone, or atleast most. I've taken a long time to answer, because I don't know a "better way." I think the feelings you have are similar to those of most people. Although, each person may be upset about different things. For example, some want Trump as president, some Hillary, some Sanders, and a few want someone else. All I can recommend is, try try again, differently.
