Lino249 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 This is not intended to be sexist in any way. However I notice that women are most of the time colder than males, is it something to do with muscle mass or fat stores. Looking forward to feedback.
EdEarl Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I think you are referring to cautious. Women are generally smaller and weaker than men, which makes them cautious, and that sometimes makes them seem cold. But, everyone is different and you may have run across an unusual distribution of women.

Men have a higher resting metabolic rate, different fat distribution and the types of fat that are utilised. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-33760845

Obviously you have never lived with a woman who was experiencing menopause... 1
swansont Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Smaller bodies, with a larger surface/volume ratio, shed heat faster.
Sirona Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 It's not sexist at all. Hah, sorry I couldn't help but chuckle at that one, it's not the first time I've seen it on this site either; what kind of scary women do you guys know anyway? From what I've read, core temperatures of men and women aren't really different (less than 0.2 degrees celsius difference, if at all). However, women's core temperature fluctuates slightly depending on age, hormones (pregnancy, menstruation, menopause), time of day as well (can fluctuate by 0.5 - 1.0 degrees celsius) as what was mentioned above such as muscle/fat mass. Source: http://theconversation.com/mondays-medical-myth-men-are-hotter-than-women-6738 However, women apparently have lower skin temperatures (particularly in cold air) and can be several degrees colder than a man's hands when exposed to cold air.
