Hi,
I am new to this site so bare with me. ha
I need some much needed help, I am currently in a debate of sorts with a person and he sent me this, I would appreciate any info on how to answer it. I have a few idea's but looking for some guidance. I believe he is hinting at a god behind these things. But since science does not know all.. some cases we do, but saying god is behind it is an extraordinary claim that has no evidence to back it up. So Occams's Razor can come in and take over. But I would like to know about the subjects in question below are answered by science or rather points to science but not known as of yet.
- Cheers
Here it is:
"thank you so much for the complete breakdown of my comments but then all your points still have God filled in gaps you left wide. Tell me, the universe started by accident or external force? Proteins are made from right handed amino acids but the only one simulated in the lab is left-handed,how come? RNA is assembled by accident? Why do onions have longer DNA than highly evolved humans? Has there been any evolved tardigrades? Can a 75 million years old dinosaur soft tissue of collagen and blood vessels be that old?"

Simply put, everything is either based on a lack of understanding of the terms and/or simply wrong.

1) Wrong dichotomy.

2) Proteins are made from L-amino acids, not D (D-amino acids exist but are either converted to L or have very specialized uses).

3)No idea what that means.

4)All extant organisms (including humans and onions) have the same length of evolutionary history. Neither of which (alone) directly determines genome size.

5) Yes tardigrades evolved as any other extant organisms.

6) That sentence also makes no sense. If it is that old, it is obviously that old. If the question is how is it possible that tissue got preserved: it appears that iron particles helped in preserving it (see Schweitzer et al. Proc Royal Soc. B, 2013).

This bit, for example, simply isn't true.

"Proteins are made from right handed amino acids but the only one simulated in the lab is left-handed,".

It's perfectly possible to make either version in the lab.

And perfectly possible to simulate either.

Sounds like typical creationist lies.

Why do onions have longer DNA than highly evolved humans?

Most of the extra is junk DNA that serves no purpose. The onion happens to be an organism that faithfully reproduces everything, which results in a lot of junk being carried over each generation. It doesn't harm anything. We have some junk DNA as well, but our genomes are much cleaner than an onion's.

Natural explanation, no need for magic, god(z), or incredulity.
