Strange Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Could time possibly have a particle ? Could distance?

Strange Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 That was kinda my point: if time is quantised then space would be too. (I don't think there are any theories where space is quantised but time isn't, or vice versa). Also, I don't think that space-time being discrete is quite the same thing as it being made of particles. But that may just be a matter of interpretation.
swansont Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Could time possibly have a particle ?You might be able to make a model with a time particle but good luck with that.
ajb Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 (edited) The closest to a 'time' particle would be a gravition, which is a 'space-time' particle. That is, it the quanta associated with linearising Einstein's field equations. It is not exactly a 'lump' of time though. Edited April 15, 2016 by ajb
