I'm planning to conduct experiments in tire pyrolysis to produce small particle carbon for use in other projects. I'd like to hear ideas for the best, cost-effective catalysts to use in the experiments. The plan calls for using various, phased pressure and heat levels. Thanks in advance!

Welcome, holdensteady!

The cheapest way is to burn the tyres. The thick black smoke is carbon in small particles. Partly because tyres are produced with a load of carbon black, and partly because the combustion makes soot.

You know that carbon black is widely available and cheap?
