Ristol Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Hello guys, I am new here. I am doing a work and I need to know where the system benzene-Acetic acid is used in the industry, i found that is used in Chromatography is that right? I also need to know where the chlorofm-methanol system is used. Thanks so much for your help.
Sensei Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 By "benzene-Acetic acid" do you mean Phenylacetic acid? Application is typically described on.. wikipedia page of compound. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenylacetic_acid
Ristol Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 Thanks for your answer but I mean a process that uses benzene and acetic acid combined i dont know if i explain myself.

hypervalent_iodine Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I suppose you could use them for chromatography, but I'm not sure why you would. Benzene is something that is used much less now than it used to be because of its known carcinogenic effects. Acetic acid can be used to separate some compounds with column chromatography, but you would probably use it with ethyl acetate / pet. spirit (or hexane) rather than benzene. I can't think of anything else you would use it for in industry, but it's not a sector I'm overly familiar with. Chloroform and methanol is used in chromatography as well. It's fairly effective at separating amines, for example. 1
BabcockHall Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Did you try doing a search such as: chloroform methanol?
