If anyone has good teaching experience and is willing to spare the time, do you think you could provide me some basic informal tutoring?

Though, seeing as that's possibly very unlikely, do you think you could at least point me towards the right questions to practice from the 50-70 questions a college textbook provides. It takes forever to get through all those and many are too easy, but not discernible to the untrained eye from a difficult question.

I am currently using Principles of Physics which is an international version of Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday Resnick and Walker.

I would be grateful even for minimum guidance.

Or if you are serious and have the money getting hold of a local personal tutor could work. However, my experience has been that not many tutors will work past high school level. Anyway, whatever happens, good luck.

really I do not know your level, you had better shoıw it especially whats you know.

I am mathematician (analysist) and I think especially some parts of physics are more difficult than subjects in content of mathematics. and it is clear that mathematics -physics have too much relation(s) each among subjects in their contents. and sometimes have similar or mutual rules/principles.

probably I have extraordinary features, and I request you to let us learn your level. then it might be better to make some useful suggesttions.I also recommend that you add other related statements such as how much time you may study daily for this, how kind personality you have (relief or aggressive) , how old you are and what your economic status is.

note please I can give only direction tutorial and with extreme probbaility my offers would/could be different in comparison other mathematicians and physicists.and it would be good to express in addition : (I think) I am not expert at any subject of physics currently now.

Lots of practice at kahnacademy.

I can't seem to find it. Just a lot of videos and text covering the concepts. Can you give me a sample?

or you could look at some of the basic courses at edx.org or any other the other open universities.

Most of those courses seem fairly advanced and specific. Anything starting from the basics?

I know basic calculus and have studied physics in high school. I think I can spare maybe some 3-4 hours daily. I'm not sure how answer that personality question but I can be patient if I need to be. I have just graduated from college and again I don't know how to answer that question on economic status.

Each video is followed by problems you solve to show proficiency. AFAIK you cannot jump to the exercises. Although, I just entered and it gave me exercises to find out my level of math.

really ,I think you have provided a little information. and because of this I will try to write only general information in common.

first of all I have alredy stated that I am analysist and and calculus is beginning of analysis (or a stage before beginning analysis) ,for instance these all these defines analysis generally stage to stage in relevancy

(1) -->> solutions for parabola and second graded equations ,trigonomtry , logarithm , complex plane , derivation and integral for only functions have 1 variables

(2) -->> calculus ( * )

(3) -->> limits and its variety for several variabled functions

(4) -->> derivation and integral for several variabled functions & sequences

(5) -->> euler integrals and forms & solutions

(6) -->> topologic convergence and divergence , relations with various of functions and being continuous , compact & T1 &T2 &T3 (spaces)

(7) -->> general topology & relations (note: topology is not separate from analysis at real,this is new department)

(8) -->> beginning spaces , metric ,normic , inner product integral & other spaces and speacial forms for convergency (divergency) (optional)

(8) -->> measure theorie (Lebesgue integral form) , and progress (upper) (optional)

(8) -->> complex forms ,analysis on complex plane , cauchy-riemann equations ,laurent series and progress (upper) ( optional)

(9) -->> MsC & PhD doctoral programmes (optional)

but I see you would be more intersted in physics (not mathematics) ,in this I request you to provide us more information about your current knowledge like I written.

for instance you may make a simple map like this.(your knowledge)

-->> high school's physics (calculating simple electric circuits,condensers, optics and computings,lenses ..etc)

-->> newton principles and its effects (includind calculations)

-->> electric intervals and forms

-->> magnetism (e.g.amper principle)

-->> optics and photoelectrics

all these are generally stage to stage in physics and most of them (except the first one) probably will require you using " progressive integral forms" and some more difficult techniques (eg. using "right hand" principle is generally not so easy in my opinion especially it was difficult when I were studying for amper theorie/principle.)

all these subjects and making improvement are not so easy exactly. this means you need to be closely ,quite patient. as I implied I am probably not same other scientists, thats why I do not need someone to tell me almost all and related these subjects and progress for learning. (intimately I have experienced it too many times)

I implied that I have (probably) some different features in my previous comment.look please according to my own principles all these features in personal characters will affect directly at background (but because of appearance of its silence , it is generally not being thought that it affects ,it is probably being thought it affects a very little and indirectly) ,ok you may accept them only my belief if anyone thinks so ,too. :)

-->> ambition ( :) ) -->> patience -->> nerve&anger (!) -->> irritation & aggression (!) -->> happiness ( :) :-) :) ) -->> relief & comfort ( :))

unfortunately economic status is very important.and also I think one of the most important parameter. I had lived too much strict problems and still live :(

finally ,some other features are take importance too, to be realistic. for instance when I speak with someone I quite think that he/she should understand at one/first time , then probably someone do not know this point too , because I am sure I can understand at only one/first time. if someones repeat the same thing this make me anger and especially sometimes I shout them why they are repeating the same thing.(My mother is uneducated ,she repeats ame things many times and really I live too much difficulty) I also observed that this complaint is densely related/relevant to educational status but really the quality of education is also effective.

I don't trust that there is necessity to someone telling to those ones who would like to learn something in science. (it is clear for me) ,your timely expression seems enough ,but I recommend that you read all this text in relevancy, as a whole picture.

good lucks

Let's keep this in perspective.

I am currently using Principles of Physics which is an international version of Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday Resnick and Walker.

Resnick and Halliday, despite its title struggles as a first year university textbook in Physics.

It would barely have got me through the A levels I took fifty years ago.

It is aimed at students of technical disciplines such as Engineering, Chemistry and the like who need a basic background in Physics to supplement their main subject.

So practice in Physics questions really depends upon what you want to do with your R&H background.

The best way to find worked problems is to narrow down the subject area and look for texts in those areas.

At tertiary level subjects texts tend to cover a narrower aspect than high schooltexts.

For example electrical engineering, fluid mechanics, dynamics, heat, materials science, and so on all offer many excellent example calculation books

Second hand texts can be had for pence.

So help us to help you by identifying your particular areas of interest.

@blue89,

I guess I've covered till five and maybe some/most of 8 in your list of mathematics. For the sake of my knowledge in physics, I think it's better to just assume that I studied till high school level.

As for the remainder, I am sorry but It's really hard for me to understand what you mean in this part:

I implied that I have (probably) some different features in my previous comment.look please according to my own principles all these features in personal characters will affect directly at background (but because of appearance of its silence , it is generally not being thought that it affects ,it is probably being thought it affects a very little and indirectly) ,ok you may accept them only my belief if anyone thinks so ,too. :)

@studiot,

My interests i.e., fields in which I want to pursue further studies (now that my bachelor's in Electronics and Comms Engg.is done) are:

1. Particle Physics
2. Quantum physics
a. Quantum information science (computing, information theory, etc.)
b. Quantum Field theory/Quantum gravity
3. Nuclear Physics/Engineering/Technology or Solar Physics
4. Photonics
5. Photovoltaics
6. Astrophysics
7. Condensed Matter physics
8. Dynamic systems theory (Control Theory, Chaos Theory, Quantum chaos, etc.)
9. Neural Engineering
10. Study of Complex Systems
11. Nanotech
12. Metamaterials
Though, that's probably not the most important thing at this moment. For now, the most important is for me to give the Physics GRE (I also have to give general and TOEFL as well as a side note just so you know where my other time is going) which is why I need help in building some sort of a streamlined plan to study for it.
I just got Halliday and Resnick for general as well as Modern Physics by Krane. My plan was to cover these two first so that a fairly large chunk of the exam is doable.
I have planned on obtaining texts for more specialised topics like thermodynamics, mechanics text (with Hamiltonian and Lagrangian mechanics), etc., but the thing is that I have studied electrodynamics as part of my Syllabus in engineering and it was very involved/time-consuming and very little knowledge of it, if anything, has remained with me which is why I thought it better to cover the general texts prior to specialised texts. Most of them seemed similar to the text I had to refer for Electrodynamics (DK Cheng) so I wasn't really sure how to cover the syllabus for the GRE in time if I decided to get into the specialised texts.
