kingbm Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Please name 2 of the major building blocks that are derived from glucose and what macromolecules are those building blocks used to make to support cell growth and proliferation? I thought the major building block would be pyruvate? What would be the second major building block? Also I thought that pyruvate would be used to synthesize DNA and Fatty Acids. Feedback or your ideas is much appreciated as I am studying for a midterm. Thanks I think ATP may be the other answer they are looking for.
lucyda Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 (edited) I think it could be amylose and cellulose. Amylose is considered as storage polyssacharide and cellulose as a structural one. Either way, good luck with your midterm Lucy, biochemistry Edited August 26, 2016 by Phi for All commercial link removed

BabcockHall Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 That is a very open-ended question IMO. I might be tempted to answer ATP and NAD(P)H. However, ribose phosphate may be derived from glucose.
