Scotty99 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 You cannot tell me the pyramids were built with ropes and logs, nope not buying it!As impressive as the great pyramid is, there are other ancient structures just as unexplainable:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pumapunkuhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unfinished_obeliskhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baalbekhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KarnakHonestly the list goes on endlessly, our best guesses being unbelievably primitive techniques that are woefully insufficient in explaining how or why these sites/structures were built.LET ME GET OUT OF THE WAY I AM NOT A ANCIENT ALIEN NUT. I simply believe that there is far more to our history than what the record books show, and man is that exciting to me. There is no getting around the engineering aspect of the whole thing, take the obelisk linked above....we literally dont have a crane on the planet that can even LIFT that stone lol. Yet we are supposed to believe it was done with ropes and logs. This subject is infinitely interesting to me, does no one else ponder this stuff? I just want to know the truth, and none of our current theories are satisfactory to me. I have no idea where i should have posted this thread i only posted it here because of the gobekli tepe thread.

Dlouro Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Just to compare. A few years ago in the autobahn A2 in Switzerland 6 large boulders fall off from the Alps right in the middle of the road. Unfortunately two people died inside their car. The calculated weight was about 30 metric tons each so they sent two of large cranes they had in the country and told everybody that in two days the work was done. Just to remove the rocks they had to call bigger cranes from Germany and had to use explosives to break it in smaller parts. To remove everything it took 2 weeks. Modern engineering at is best. I just wonder why they did not use a few vegetable ropes and some round logs to take out the stones... It's so easy in all those movies about the pyramids... The link below is the video in the swiss tv in french. But you can see the size of the rocks. http://www.rts.ch/play/tv/19h30/video/un-eboulement-sur-lautoroute-a2-tue-deux-personnes-et-coupe-laxe-gothard?id=1568104
EdEarl Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 (edited) Coral Castle was built around 1923 over a 28 year span by one man, who had no heavy equipment and moved 1000 tons of stone, including one 27 ton stone. He worked alone and would not let anyone watch. The pyramids are bigger, but there were many workers. We cannot imagine how it was done; that doesn't mean it was done by aliens, magic or high tech. TakenItSeriously Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 They had generations and countless numbers to continuously practice, improve and perfect their techniques. Experience will always be the key factor. I'm sure they had smart and innovative people in the past as well. No reason to think we should be able to duplicate their methods that easily today without the benefit of their experience.
Endy0816 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Bodies and a sledge. Most was locally queried material. Didn't have to go all that far. We know they had some access to wood(mortar, boats) so may have also used construction methods that would be more familiar to us. At one point wheeled baskets for the stones came out, but not sure on when they were first invented though. The really big stuff they simply floated most of the way to the construction site. Biography of Ineni, has a line about it.
Dlouro Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 That's how the Coral Castle was made with photos to prove it. http://www.skeptic.com/eskeptic/12-12-05/#feature

Raider5678 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I don't understand why its so hard to believe. A lever and fulcrum can move almost anything if it has the right length and strength. My grandfather lifted a house with a steel bar and a large rock. Well, he tilted it, not really lifted it up. Still physics can do a lot of stuff.
michel123456 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 One could make the following remark: as much technology evolves as small become the construction material. It begins in ancient times with megalithic structures and ends up today with small bricks or even plastic bottles. Concerning the megalithic structures, my conclusion is that it must have been much more difficult for ancient people to carve a stone than to move it. I mean: moving a large block is a matter of strength, but carving is a matter of technology. When you have no technology, the hard work is to cut a stone in pieces. At the same time if you want to build a large construction what we do today would have been considered pure madness for ancient people: we cut stones in small pieces and then we assemble together again. Their approach was much simpler: you take the largest rock possible and put it directly in place. And that's it. No calculations, no theory of construction, simple empiricism.
Enthalpy Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 The ancient Egyptians, and other people, were as clever as us. They accumulated invention, observation, experience and knowledge over generations. All this knowledge is lost. I feel absolutely normal that a bunch of present-day archeaologists, aided from time to time by a handful of engineers, can't recreate the technology of a culture, nor understand how a particular artfifact was made. Presently, we would be unable to reinvent the technology from the beginning of radio transmissions. Who among the archeaologists and engineers could reinvent the galena detector or the coherer and build one? By the way, we don't even have a theory for the coherer in 2017, as far as I know. Though, this technology is much nearer to us, by its use, its technology, its theory. Claiming to understand technology from such a remote past is extraordinarily presumptuous. Telling "impossible because we don't guess how they did", even more so. 1
granpa Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 if they moved 1 stone per day then they must have begun around 9000 bc
Strange Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 if they moved 1 stone per day then they must have begun around 9000 bc I suppose it is a good job they didn't do that, then. If they had moved 1 stone per second, they could have finished in a month. Not surprisingly, the real construction time is somewhere between those two. 1

There is a you tube video that explains in no uncertain terms that the ancient aliens idea is simply lies and misdirection by the main people who promote this nonsense. It's around 3 hours long but well worth the trouble to watch if you think that Ancient Aliens explains anything at all...
Thorham Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 (edited) we literally dont have a crane on the planet that can even LIFT that stone lol. Do you seriously believe we have no cranes capable of lifting 1200 tons? Right We have mobile cranes that can lift 1200 metric tons, we have a crane vessel that can lift 14200 metric tons, and a gantry crane that does 20000 metric tons. Really, did you even google this? Apparently not... http://fieldlens.com/blog/building-better/biggest-cranes/ Edited July 26, 2016 by Thorham 1
Moontanman Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 The whole Ancient Aliens meme is for all practical purposes made up out of whole cloth for money and fame by unscrupulous people. It's a disgusting example of feeding a popular mythology in modern media by lying to people!
michel123456 Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 People on Nias Island in Indonesia move a megalith, c. 1915. Digitally restored. It is interesting to note the wooden frame. As if it was a package that protect the stone from breaking. 3
