Guest Brinnie
Hi, lolz! I post on this one forum and stuff. And liek, to them, I post a lot, but it's really not a lot to me. And they're always liek: "Brinnie, you have too much time on your hands..." when in reality, I just post really fast... Like 50 posts an hour. And I even do it from work. And so liek, I need a formula to display to them that displays the equation of a postwhore through space and time, or whatever. I hope I came to the right place!! Dak
[math] {{\sum y}\over{x}} = z.[/math] where y = an intelligent point that has been made, and x = number of posts. if z < 1, then you are a post-whore. hope that helps

Can you do one that translates time and velocity?
Guest Brinnie
I was thinking of something like a "words per minute" ratio equation.
Lance
I was thinking of something like a "words per minute" ratio equation. That would be words/minutes.
Guest Brinnie
That would be words/minutes. not sure. I just know I want to show a users posting speed by quantity over time. Or however it's mathematically said. But yes, you would have to take into consideration the substance of the post as Dak demonstrated. Substance can also be measured length. Posts with nothing but "lolz, haha" should be devalued accordingly- or at least, taken into consideration.
Lance
not sure. I just know I want to show a users posting speed by quantity over time. Or however it's mathematically said. Uh, yeah. That would be the equation for rate. Somthing like d/t=s d=posts t=time in minutes s=post speed in posts per minute

Dak
that would screw the single-point post-whore equasion. very few people can manage to make one intelligent point per word.
Guest Brinnie
that would screw the single-point post-whore equasion. very few people can manage to make one intelligent point per word. okay, so then we'd use the Posts Per Day average, that's usually found in members profile page. Dak
post-whore temporal equasion [math] {{\sum y}\over{x}} = z.[/math] where y = an intelligent point that has been made, and x = number of posts. d/t=s d=posts t=time in minutes s=post speed in posts per minute if z < 1, then you are a post-whore, in which case s would be the magnitude of the post-whoreyness. what'd'ya recon? we still havent adressed the post-whores movement through space though. Dak
When we say time and space are we meaning things in the posters physical world like effort and work? you were the one who mentioned time and space, btw, is this theoryetical QM? iv always wondered what it feels like. Dak
well, i searched for all your posts and got the following stats number of posts = 15 number of intelligent points = 3 number of words =289 time taken = 104 mins plug them into the equasion to get [math]z = {\sum y \over x} = {3 \over 15} = 0.2 \text{ so yes, you are a post-whore}[/math] s = d/t = 289/104 = 2.7 YOU ARE A POST-WHORE WITH A POST-WHORE INDEX OF 0.2 AND A MAGNITUDE OF 2.7 interpretation: you post too much. hope that helps

Lance
I suppose you would have to calculate other people's magnitude to determine the norm.
