So if I hit you upside the head with a club it would hurt less if I called the club a pillow? Or I called it a hug instead of a vicious blow?

This is what is happening in the world now, senses are being changed.

And to not lose a sense of reality I decided for myself that one needs to stick true values.

1984 tells about values and senses.

How would you tell the difference?

I was thinking about this question. I must say it is quite cynical one. Because it supposed to mean that you know how our world, i.e. our mind is created. But you don't. And nobody knows how our world is created.

The fact of our reality astonishes me every day. And how magnificent our mind is. Yes, everything is in our mind, and it may seem that life is a dream. But at the same time it is so brightly real, love is real, and pain is real.

And if you think that everything is a dream, or a simulation, etc, etc..don't eat, don't drink water, don't go to the shower, because sweat is illusive, and don't forget that your feelings are simulated, and what is more- feelings (love, for example) of others towards you are simulated. Keep that in mind.

Senses aren't being changed, other than in the sense of evolution.

Which sense gives you a sense of reality? smell etc.?

You can't decide for yourself what a true value is, it takes a culture to decide that...

you don't have to know bc no-one can, you just have to have faith in the presumption that, if fire hurts me and all the people on the news, it's probably real... 😉

everything is in our mind

And yet those things continue existing even when your mind is gone

The map is not the territory

"Reality" and "true" are two of the most subjective words that exist. Ask 100 people what is real or true and you'll get 100 different answers.

Yes, smell. Hunger, thirst. Because these are needs of my body and they bring back to reality.

Sometimes when you are very busy with your own thoughts, you forget about these needs, and it's not good.

But i'm talking about true values. Such as honesty,  faithfulness, faithfulness to one's word..I think they would resonate with 100 people.

And if  you asked me what is true and real, I would say feelings are real. Because our mind can play tricks on us, and you can be made to think something, but not feel it.

Many people think they're being honest when they tell you what they don't like about you. They "call it like they see it", and I often question whether that has any value at all.

Faithfulness to myself, or another? Those often come into conflict, so which it "truer"?

Keeping your promises can sometimes be unreasonable or even dangerous. Is there value in being rigid and unyielding?

Aren't feelings connected to the mind? If the mind can play tricks to make us think something that isn't true, aren't the feelings connected? As an example, if my mind tells me the woman I see down the street is my wife, I'll definitely feel happiness based on what I see, until I get close enough to see it isn't really her. Then I'll feel disappointed that my mind made me think something that wasn't true.

Point well missed🙄, there is nothing, within our body and mind, that confers a 'sense' of reality; all of our senses can be fooled...

And, all our values can be taught, both good and bad...

What you're actually doing is assuming you're right, and disregarding the left... 😉
