hows this....

 

7a) Since the vectors are not multiples of eachother therefore they are linearly independent.

 

b) it must be a linear combination of the two vectors. and the condition b4 - b1 = 0 has to hold.

 

so am i completely wrong? :S

Yup.

Yup.
and the condition b4 - b1 = 0 has to hold.
This is redundant, since if the vector in question is a linear combination of the two basis vectors, this relation is automatically satisfied.

umm one thing.....

 

i think the question is asking for a bit more detail that is....

for part b)

should i say the conditions that b must satify is ....(well i think there is only one...)

 

b4 - b1 = 0
