V-Man Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 That's awesome, but rather impractical seeing as even a marginal error could turn the last thousand books into gibberish. Yep. That's why I myself am skeptical of the practicality of it. But hey, if computers can count atoms, why not!
rakuenso Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 M E O R S I is an anagram for: isomer moires and rimrose
jowrose Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 not rimrose, there is only one 'r'. it could be i'm (a) rose... but that's kind of stretching it.
ffsjoe Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 By separating the number up into 229, 23, 248, 197, 198, 216, I found the 229th letter of the alphabet and so on for the others, forwards and backwards. I came up with; U W N O P H going forwards and F D M L K S going backwards. And that means nothing to me, atleast it's one more line of investigation eliminated.
j_p Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Why does it start with a zero? Assuming each set of three is one unit creates only six units; is that enough to tell a secret?
DaveC426913 Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Yep. That's why I myself am skeptical of the practicality of it. But hey, if computers can count atoms, why not! I suspect that this great man's observation is now centuries old. It was probably the first conception of compact data storage, since before computers ever existed.
jowrose Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 ffsjoe, did you try using 230 instead of 23? i think that's the intended number.
alibabba Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 ok' date=' my friend told me had a secret and that it was hidden in this message: 022902300248019701980216 the only hint he gave me was that the 0's were dividers. i thought i figured it out, but he told me i was wrong... here's what i got a +1 +18 -51 pattern and if u hold alt and type the #'s (including 0's) on aim it makes a pattern i have NO IDEA! anybody got any better ideas?? [/quote'] The package is in route and will be delivered monday, 8-29-2005.
ffsjoe Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 k ill try 230 when i've got some time, need to duck out atm Edit: going forwards 230 would be V and backwards it would be E
insane_alien Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 try using the declaration of independance. i've seen it used before. you take the number and look up the corresponding word. eg 86 = whatever the 86th word in the declaration is.
Christ slave Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 ok' date=' my friend told me had a secret and that it was hidden in this message: 022902300248019701980216 the only hint he gave me was that the 0's were dividers. i thought i figured it out, but he told me i was wrong... here's what i got a +1 +18 -51 pattern and if u hold alt and type the #'s (including 0's) on aim it makes a pattern i have NO IDEA! anybody got any better ideas?? [/quote']Perhaps your friend is asking you to marry him/her...
jowrose Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 insane alien, that's a good idea. but then you might have to check hundreds of documents as well, as theoretically it could be any well-known document. also, i think the similarities between the numbers might be too great for something like that...
Christ slave Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 Maybe when the person said zeros are dividers, that person meant the two zeros that are together so you get two words or something? : 0229023 248019701980216
Christ slave Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I wonder who will be the ring-bearer! Will it be you, jowrose?
jowrose Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 sure, why not. if that doesn't work out, i have dibs on maid of honor. haha, just kidding
jowrose Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 'spose you could be minister, right? even if you aren't one, you can find simple websites that will ordain you in minutes! a catholic priest in 120 seconds, free to molest children at will! sorry that was uncalled for. bad jowrose we're a little off topic arent we? anyone have any new info on that code? whoever started this thread (i forget) should just hit their friend over the head and make them tell us. its bothering me.
ffsjoe Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 its bugging me too, i hope his friend didnt just give him a bunch of random numbers for a joke cos I really want to know the answer
starbug1 Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Isuit. Before I spend any more time on this code, to which I am already pulling my hair out over, was your friend serious? I am wondering wether your friend is intelligent enough to come up with this code himself or if he was just screwing around. I've tried everything!!!!!!!!!
jowrose Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 oh if isuit just left, i'm gonna be mad. i gotta find this out... if anyone has ever listened to lewis black's "rules of enragement" they know what i'm talking about.
