deep0199 Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Quick Question How could I determine the presence of carbohydrates, proteins, pectin, and lipids and fats by using the enzymes amylase, pepsin, pectinase, and lipase? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
ecoli Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 simply measure the amounts of these substances after introducing them to the respective enzymes.
Skye Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Couple the enzyme reaction with another that produces something that a spectro will pick up.
hyebeh Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 yeah... like skye said, use a photospectrometer and some substance or another that will react with the molecules you listed.
Primarygun Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 Must you use enzymes? There are some simple methods to test for the substances.
