michel123456 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Hi, I have a professional account Linkedin. When I make a Google search for myself, it returns in the wrong language.Explaining.My location Is GreeceThe result of a search for myself returns the correct page but at the address https://nl.linkedin.com....(Which means Netherlands, and the text after the search is in Dutch language)I expected a result that match my location (gr) and the text in English language. I have checked the settings of my Linkedin account and everything is OK (location Greece, language English, etc.I am currently exchanging emails with the Linkedin help center. when they make a search for my account, the result is under format https://fr.linkedin.com....(where fr is France, and the text is in French). So that may not be a Linkedin problem. Note: I have cleared the cache in all browsers & cleared the cookies as well. I have tried with 4 different computers at the office with Chrome, FireFox, I.E., the same problem all the time (always a result in Dutch). So, my question is the following: Who do I have to contact in order to solve this problem? What is the service that decides if the result is http://nl, or https://fr or other? my OS is Windows7 Any help welcome.
StringJunky Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Have you tried Google Greece... this is your local version. It comes up in English in the UK. https://www.google.gr/
Sensei Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) Google position pages because they're linked by somebody (by some page) and then found by Google bot searching the net. Copy'n'paste url of "http :// nl.linkedin.com/(....)" page to Google in double quotes, and it'll tell which websites redirected Google bot to that link. Apparently they have higher rank than others. Make more links to Greek version of your website. And spread over the internet. f.e. make signatures with that link in forum posts. Note: I have cleared the cache in all browsers & cleared the cookies as well. I have tried with 4 different computers at the office with Chrome, FireFox, I.E., the same problem all the time (always a result in Dutch). You should run Tor, or through proxy HTTP servers.. Have you tried Google Greece... this is your local version. It comes up in English in the UK. But he is in Greece, and searching himself result in Netherlands version of link to LinkedIn.. michel123456 Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) Have you tried Google Greece... this is your local version. It comes up in English in the UK. https://www.google.gr/ Yes of course. Google.com redirects automatically to Google.gr. It is impossible for me to reach Google.com, only other Googles, like Google.fr, Google.be, etc. Have you eliminated that it might be a Google problem? It might be a Google problem but I cannot find an email address to contact a helpdesk at Google. Only Google forum. Google position pages because they're linked by somebody (by some page) and then found by Google bot searching the net. When i copy/paste in the Google search bar, it says they are no result with ", the listed result are without the double quotes. When i copy paste in the Address bar it says the same (no result found for "https://nl.linkedin.com/in/--...---") Edited September 27, 2016 by michel123456

Endy0816 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) Just to check, does the same thing happen if you are searching from outside the office? Edited September 27, 2016 by Endy0816
michel123456 Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) Isn't there a "Use Google.com" link at the bottom of the page? Not always. Most of the time no, I just realized that the page has not always the same format. Just to check, does the same thing happen if you are searching from outside the office? Yes. At this time from home & from another laptop Apple, the same happens. Linkedin.nl Edited September 27, 2016 by michel123456
